Zero Waste Shopping: The Toothbrush
When it comes to shopping in a sustainable manner, the toothbrush is definitely a big one. When you wonder in any store, you will find PLASTIC. ALL. OVER. THE. PLACE. What amazes me also is the marketing behind it to manipulate you to buy these. You might actually LOVE you non-sustainable toothbrush. The come with so called scientific studies to provide you with the most perfect shape… every other month now. What I know though, (with all respect to science) is that my teeth feel clean, and my dentist hasn’t told me anything that could lead me to believe differently.

When I started to be more conscious about my carbon footprint, I found a great brand in Portland that make toothbrushes out of recycled plastic. They are a B Corp (which is definitely what you want) and you can discover their world, their values and products here. I believe that it’s better to find a local company making plastic toothbrushes sustainably, than a Made In China bamboo toothbrush (no offense to China). I like it, does the work, not very pricy, and it’s in my travel bag ready any time I’m leaving for a new adventure! Click the image to get your preserve toothbrush!

Sustainable material, good looking, great reviews online and some brands are made in the U.S.! For all these reasons the bamboo toothbrush has become our tool to brush our teeth. I recently came across this brand: We recently opened our own shop, and offer different types of bamboo toothbrushes. From activated charcoal to rainbow ones, we try to offer options for all tastes! But there’s so many brands available out there, first we wasted hours trying to find options. Click the picture to read more about this bamboo toothbrush and get yours.
In need of toothpaste to go with it? Here’s a recipe I love using that keep the mouth with clean, white teeth: give it a try and let us know what you think!
